TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The Meliden Community Centre is managed by the Meliden Community Association. We are registered as Charity No. 512790. All profits are used to run the Centre by volunteers.

YOUR SAFETY

The hirer will be expected to inform and remind guests of any fire evacuation procedures. Exits are clearly marked and must be kept clear at all times.

The muster point is the car park. The hirer must make sure there are enough stewards to supervise its function and they should all be aware of the fire drill. Stewards must take charge of the doors to ensure that uninvited people do not come in, and also to supervise the EMERGENCY EXIT door, which is to kept closed.

If the building has to evacuated the users should leave quickly, closing the doors to contain the fire. The hirer must call the fire service. In compliance with the law, all areas of the Centre are non-smoking.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The hirer shall, during the period of use, be responsible for the prevention of damage to the premises, fabric and contents and behaviour of all persons using the premises.

The hirer shall be responsible for obtaining any licences necessary in connection with the booking, other than those held by the Centre. Our centre holds a PPL license which permits the playing of sound recordings. It does not cover commercial organisations or any activity which earns an income unless the profit goes entirely into our Association.

The hirer is covered by the Association’s Public Liability Insurance policy so long as it does not make a profit from its meetings other than that reinvested back into the club or for charitable purposes.

The hirer shall not sub-let or use the premises for any unlawful purpose or in any unlawful way, or do anything which may endanger the premises, their users or any insurance policies relating thereto.

The hirer shall, if selling goods on the Centre premises, comply with trading laws and any local code of practice issued in connection with such sales. The hirer shall ensure that the total prices of all goods and services are prominently displayed, as shall the organiser’s name and address.

The hirer shall not place posters or decorations on the walls. Use may be made of hooks and tabs already in place.

The Village Hall is available at fixed times during weekends to residents of the borough. Party time is from 1 until 4 o’clock but the doors open at 12 to allow for time to set up and close at 5 o’clock allowing time to clear away.

Use of the kitchen includes the Association’s crockery, cutlery, trays and water boiler etc. in order to serve light refreshments. It is not for the preparation of meals.

The Centre is available at less than commercial rates because we are all volunteers and do not employ staff—help us keep the place open and costs down.

Please clean the kitchen and return items of equipment to where they were found. Floors should be cleared of food and any litter or personal property. Chairs returned to their position around the sides of the room and the patio area free of litter and cigarette ends etc.. Please bring bags and take your rubbish with you.

Hire of the Village Hall for a party does not include the use of the Community Room which may be hired at additional cost.
